Now you can build your own lamp with the DIY Coil Lamp Kit! The Coil Lamp was originally created by Craighton Berman for Deceptive Design—an innovative product exhibition at the Chicago Cultural Center. Craighton works as the lead designer at the Chicago-based innovation company, Gravitytank, and also teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Bound to think of an idea this brilliant, eh?
The kit includes two pieces of laser-cut acrylic frames that are actually the lamp’s skeleton, a bulb adaptor, and an instruction book. All you need to do is buy a light bulb, a US-style 16 gauge 100-foot extension cord and wind it around the frame. Viola! Your elegant lamp is ready and shining! It’s as easy as it sounds.
Looking only at the raw materials, you may doubt if it would become as good as the picture we show you, but once it comes all together, the Coil Lamp will make you say, “Wow! Did I make it all by myself?” it would become a striking piece of décor in any room. And you can have it in any color you like! Simply choose the cord color that matches the theme of your room. It’s simple, easy and elegant at the same time!
