Did you ever think you could actually sit in an origami chair? We didn’t, until now! Douwe Jacobs originally thought of creating a piece of foldable furniture for his graduation project in Industrial Design Engineering in 2008.
While applying his creativity on a piece of paper, he made a beautiful origami chair! Impressed by the simplicity and strength of the new design, Jabobs, together with his fellow graduate, Tom Schouten, established Flux Furniture. It was then, that the paper model was created into a patented commercial product. Jacobs and Schouten recently exhibited the Flux Chairs at the 100% Design show in Rotterdam where it received a positive response!
The Flux Chair is made up of a big sheet of weatherproof polypropylene which makes it very durable in any climate and the design is so miraculous that when it’s unfolded, the chair becomes a single flat light-weight sheet that u can easily carry anywhere! Available in eight fun colors, it takes absolutely no space when unfolded! You can easily keep a stock in case a dozen guests appear out of the blue. You can now take your plastic paper to the beach or the park, and show off by making an origami chair. The real fun comes when you actually sit on it!
